Easter in Ethiopia with my family at home

April 4th, 2010

I had a very uplifting Sabbath today.  I arose early so I could Skype with my family.  After scripture study and prayer Erika and I talked for a while then just left the connection open as we went about our separate tasks occasionally commenting to each other.  It was almost like being home.  I love her so much and miss her desperately.  I am so impressed with her strength of character in the tough times.

My car arrived late so I missed the sacrament at church but was able to hear the other testimonies.  The rest of the meetings were canceled and families sent home to celebrate Easter with each other.  It was short for me but still uplifting.

I read the whole Sunday school assignment and listened to three and a half sessions of conference.  Needless to say that with a full day of inspiring talks and fasting too my spiritual cup runneth over.  I want to carry it with me for the rest of the week.
Ingera and the different types of sauces that go with it

Wesson made us a traditional Ethiopian meal to celebrate Easter.  We had dura wot, kitfu, and mutton all with ingera.  I had been fasting so it really hit the spot.  Wesson is a good cook.

Due to the holiday on Friday and the weekend it was difficult to line up a car.  When I did get a car it wasn’t what we had asked for so they took it back this afternoon and said they will bring me one in the morning.  Transportation here can be a real tricky thing at times.

Tonight I visited with Dad and Mom who are at home visiting.  It was great to talk to them and feel of their strength.
